Cleverly designed and beautifully hand crafted this Huon Pine and Tasmanian Blackwood Jewel Box features a removable half tray. This is the perfect gift for a special occasion with the exquisite combination of Huon Pine and Blackwood accents on this unique jewel box.
Jewellery Box Features:
- Box Dimensions: 25cm wide x 30cm long x 9cm tall.
- Removable wooden half tray: 13cm wide x 21.5cm long x 3cm deep. Removable tray is lined in luxurious black suede.
- Beneath the tray are six sections also beautifully lined in black suede and featuring two ring holders.
About the Timber: Huon pine is a rainforest timber unique to Tasmania, distinguished by its essential natural oil, which gives it a one-of-a-kind aroma and makes it highly resistant to fungal and insect attacks. The color of Huon pine ranges from almost white to light cream and yellowish, with fine, closely spaced annual growth rings and occasional small black "bird's eye" markings.
The Huon pine used in this product was sustainably recovered from the Tasmanian forest floor under a government-issued license and allocated to Millers. This timber is sourced from the remnants left by old-time piners or from trees that have died naturally.
Blackwood is a native Tasmanian hardwood which appears in a rich variety of colours with a stunning grain that can be straight or wavy. It has a lustrous appearance and is a strong, long lasting timber. It is the perfect partner for Huon Pine.
About the Maker: Creating this stunning Huon Pine and Tasmanian Blackwood Jewel Box has been a true labour of love for Craig, the skilled craftsman behind Bruce's Boxes. With many years of experience apprenticed under his late father Bruce, he is highly knowledgeable about timbers and only purchases select-grade material sourced from Tasmania for his boxes. The timbers arrive seasoned and ready to be machined to precise dimensions.
Although Craig has a modern workshop equipped with the latest woodworking tools, he believes nothing surpasses the finish achieved through traditional "elbow Grease." In other words, all timber products are meticulously hand-finished.
He carefully thicknesses each board and then invests additional time in color-matching each component, ensuring the best possible combination for each box. For Craig achieving a quality finish is as much about feel as it is about sight.
Full length piano hinges are used for attaching the lids to the box bodies with their own specially designed back rest which gives great stability and strength.
